Akropolis Performance Lab, Seattle’s internationally acclaimed* ensemble theatre company, will audition performing artists for a one-year non-exclusive artistic residency. The commitment will include participation in ongoing, weekly physical/vocal training, company-led workshops, Salons, as well as the development and performance of APL’s 2014-15 artistic projects.
APL is committed to rigorous work in a highly focused and personally supportive environment. We seek artists with a sincere commitment to ensemble development, a strong connection to or curiosity about their cultural heritage, and a desire to explore their individual potential through the vehicle of performance art.
If you are not familiar with our company or our work, please visit our website and Facebook group to review our artistic principles and mission, as well as our aesthetic vision and company ethic. Please also watch our performance and training clips on YouTube. We expect everyone to have a clear understanding of our organization before registering to audition.
Akropolis auditions are not conventional. Prepare for a three-hour, practical session involving highly physical group activity, work with song, and the development of individual action. There will be very little downtime. You must be available for the entire three-hour process. The audition session is limited to six participants. Once this session fills, we will consider adding additional sessions to accommodate interest.
Although we are especially looking for men during this round, the audition is open to anyone for whom our mission resonates. Everyone will have equal opportunity for selection.
Note: This is not a project-specific audition. We do not have a fixed number of open roles or a deadline by which to fill them.
To register, please complete this simple registration form.
Familiarize yourself with our artistic principles and aesthetic prior to submitting your application. Although there are few questions, you will be asked for brief statements about what draws you to our work and what alignments you see between our artistic ethos and your own (or your aspirations).

We look forward to our artistic meeting!
