There are many ways to get involved with Akropolis Performance Lab.
Attend
Throughout the year, APL offers workshops, performer’s labs, readings, performances, and more. Some events are free of charge. We welcome new artists, participants, and audiences to all activities! Our quarterly Sunday Salon series is a popular entry point.
Donate
Maintaining a high quality ensemble requires strong partnerships with the community, volunteers, and private entities. APL has been able to maintain and strengthen our excellence through generous donations of time and resources from our community.
There is no donation too big or too small. We are grateful for every gift.
Become a Monthly Sustainer
Make a One-Time Donation
Akropolis Performance Lab is a sponsored project of Fractured Atlas, a non-profit arts service organization. Contributions for the charitable purposes of Akropolis Performance Lab must be made payable to “Fractured Atlas” only and are tax-deductible to the extent permitted by law.
Donations of items instead of cash also are tax-deductible to the extent permitted by law. We have periodic need for a range of things from food and reception items to lighting or sound equipment, books or resource subscriptions to soap or toilet paper. To start a conversation with us about current needs for donated items, please email us.
Make Art
Actors: Artistic affiliation with APL is a long-term commitment. We only rarely cast for individual shows. If you are interested in working with us artistically, please familiarize yourself with our statements on artistic principles and actor training and, if possible, participate in a workshop or attend a production, before opening a dialogue with the Artistic Directors. APL develops productions through an extended creative process — our priorities, aesthetic, and way of working differ greatly from those most commonly practiced in the States. We prioritize long-term ensemble-based work with a small circle of artistic associates, and we generally begin with a trial apprenticeship before offering full artistic associate status. Send an inquiry if you think you would be a good fit.
At present, we have no plans for future performer auditions; however, our 2015 audition call is accessible for anyone considering opening a dialogue with the Artistic Directors.
Playwrights: The first Sunday Salon of each year is devoted to the reading workshop of a new play. Look for our call for submissions in September.
Volunteer
We are always happy to meet great people who want to volunteer their time and expertise in areas such as these:
- photography
- videography
- box office / front-of-house
- graphic design
- stage management
- participate in a Salon reading
- host a fundraiser
- serve on our board
Intern
APL interns gain experience in non-profit operations, as well as artistic projects, while supporting the work of the company. Internships are most commonly structured with a year-long trajectory, but project-based internships may be an option. We welcome inquiries about internship opportunities on a year-round basis.
